Simon Gould Taking on the Toughest Footrace on Earth

3 years ago By Simon Tindall

Rockcliff player Simon Gould is known at the club for his ridiculous level of fitness but has he met his match with his next challenge?

Raising money for St Oswalds Hospice, Simon will be taking on the The Marathon des Sables (MdS) which is a multi-day ‘ultra-marathon’ or ‘ultra’ run in six days over a course of between 150 and 156 miles.

This is a challenge in itself, but when you consider the run takes place in the world’s most inhospitable climate - the Sahara desert, you realise why this race is ranked by the Discovery Channel as the "toughest footrace on earth".

Not only will he have to negotiate the 150+ mile course, but he must also be self-sufficient, carrying on his back everything needed for survival.

This is an amazing challenge for an equally amazing charity, if you would like to sponsor him please visit Simon Gould's JustGiving page.
